Hopefully this one will get pinned, so it will be easy to find for future reference.  This is the place to find your discoveries that make your forum usage easier...and will most likely make things easier for your fellow forumers.

Here's my first one...and it makes things easier on my poor mind.

How to adjust your time settings:

1. Enter your profile settings
2. Click on "Look and Layout Preferences"
3. In the "Time Offset" box, you need to enter the appropriate hour difference.  Please note that the forum is set to EST (Eastern Standard Time...I don't know if it adjusts for daylight savings time yet).  Since I live in the Central Time Zone, I had to enter -1 in the box, since I am one hour behind Toronto.
4. Click on the "Change Profile" button, et voila, your time will now be correct for where ever you dwell.

I'm one of those people where I have to be able to have the correct time on a forum.  I get confused if the time is wrong.

Oh, there are lots of EXCELLENT options in the "Look and Layout Preferences."  I have discovered that this is where you turn on the QUICK REPLY option.  Also, for those of you with pokey dial-up, you can make it so you can't see avatars and signatures...this should help the forum load faster for some of you.

I just moved this section, as this topic has nothing to do with complains.

Also if you don't noticed yet, I add another feature for you - it is the calendar. You will be pleased to check it out that one, and also you can learn how to connect even a post to your calendar. It is a awsome function.

^ I just discovered that. How nice.  You can put when you're on vacation or whatever...

You can center your signature by using the [ center ] then the /center (in brackets with no spaces).

I hadn't tried changing the format, but after I read your post I checked it out, and I really like the third format. I find it easier to read the posts and a lot easier to read the topic titles.

Thanks, Val.  I find the regular Search option woefully inadequate, particularly in the way it orders the results.  I assumed that when you used the regular Search to search for a particular word, it would give you topic subjects that contain that word first, but it doesn't seem to do that.

At the moment, it looks like it's turned on by default. I don't see anything in the CP where I can have it turned off by default. Help?
