Forum Rules and Guidelines - Update Apr 17 / 2007

Forum Rules and Guidelines

Hi everyone, and welcome to our Forum! We want your posting experience here to be an enjoyable one, so we’ve set rules and guidelines for the discussion forums on this website. We’ve divided these rules and guidelines into specific areas:

Basic Membership:

• No advertisements, chain letters or pyramid schemes are allowed on our forums. Solicitation of any kind, including direct linking to events such as charity auctions, is not permitted unless it’s pre-approved by the Management Team.

* No link to any kind of advertising in your personal profile. Your account will be deleted with no further warning. Only link to your personal website it is allowed !

• Links to other entertainment message boards that are similar to the message boards that we have here at Forum are not permitted ( please remove your link if you have already advertising other forum). However you can have a link to your personal website.
Links to pornography are also not permitted. These actions are known as trolling. Posters engaging in this type of behavior will lose their membership rights and be removed.

• Be respectful. Not everyone is going to agree with you at all times. It’s perfectly fine to disagree with someone as long as it is done respectfully, but do not attack other posters. Please treat other members with the same respect and courtesy that you would want for yourself.

• Don’t register multiple accounts here. Using multiple accounts here can result in the loss of posting privileges for all of your registered accounts.

Note: Failure to adhere to the above rules can result in the loss of your posting privileges.

What about links to forums that are part of the Sullivan Entertainment affiliate program? I know that Brian's forum (Avonlea Treasures) is an official affiliate site (didn't it even win an award from SE?)?

Also, in regards to the charitable organization postings. Is there some sort of set criteria over what will be allowed (like being a 501(c)(3) organization)? As someone who is active in animal rescue, I'd like to know ahead of time if I should even waste the time of the mods with a request to post something.

Actually, it was my regular website, not my forum. I've removed my link, since I believe I'm the ONLY person here that had a link to another Anne related forum. I guess competition/choice is NOT good. :)

My site doesn't have a message board is that alright? I was planning on becoming an affiliate too, once I have everything set up so fans would order their Movies here first. I mean, I am fine with this rule, I just want to make sure I'm following the rules.

I thought though, that those links came in handy for topics that were better discussed on a smaller board that got less traffic than this one did? Ah, are we having problems here because of trolls who are coming from other mssg. boards? I hadn't thought about that but there is a link to here at myspace isn't there? That can bring in all kinds of trolls too unfortunately.

Are you worried about links being put up here that might go to sites not approved for children? That can be a serious concern too. I'm just curious since I don't use all of the Board on a regular basis, I haven't noticed any sites that weren't good for kids that didn't have some kind of security set-up in place. I mean Val's site is really useful and Avonlea's site was helpful too for Anne information. I didn't even know he had a message board. Annelover's site doesn't have one either. Are these site fine?

No you are not the only one who advertise your forum/website. There is no competition here as this forum is free for everybody. But the rules are rules and have to be applied to everybody, I'm sure you will respect that.

In term of finding our spammer we will do a search for the outside links we have in here. And is impossible for us to determine if your link is a spam or not, as this is an automatic script/filter who will act to defend all possible spam here.

... and BTW, you still have your banner up.
Thank  you !

So, as long as our website doesn't have advertisements, is that alright?

Also, some of the Movies that Jon has made are only available on Amazon, is that considered a spam site? It's protected I believe right? Thanks for your help.

You are correct Pegasus !

For now we can filter the name "Amazon" but if we will have big troubles then we have to remove them as well. I will make announcement before I start deleting any posts with Amazon word in.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I am just adding links to my site to make it easier for fans to find his work.

Thats fine too concerning Amazon. I don't have to have direct links either if it becomes a problem. I just had some trouble finding his Movies at first and of course, I want fans to buy the Movies. 8)

But his banner is to his website? If I'm understanding correctly, banners to websites can stay up (like AvFn4vr's) as long as they aren't links to spam websites?

The website is fine, but he's link is pointing to his website where he also having a forum. According to the 2-nd rule this is not allowed.

Thank you.

But Brian's website is ALSO part of the Sullivan Entertainment AFFILIATE PROGRAM. So are you saying that those websites that are part of the official affiliate program cannot have their banners here at the forum if they have a forum attached to them? If so, that seems to go against everything the affiliate program stands for.

I'm going to have to agree with MNSOTA on this one. Brian has a fabulous website, it won the award from Sullivan website's own competition. Him not being able to post a link just because a forum happens to be included on the website doesn't seem fair.

Trust me, I'm not trying to be a pain in the behind...but I just feel that the new rules need to be clarified. As persnickety as this may seem, to have things made crystal clear now, you will save yourselves a lot of problems in the future.

Also, let me say I'm only acquaintences at best with Brian and Erin, so it's not like I'm doing this out of a deep, lifelong friendship. I just don't htink his website should be censored.

"acquaintances, at best." Heh. ;) That was a nice way to put it, MNSOTA.

Seriously though, I think it's a bit wonky to not allow a website to be posted that won an official award from SE. The link is to the website home page, not directly to a forum. I also think that there's quite a bit of difference in spam topics and links and a link to a legitimate website that happens to have a forum connected with it.

Is it just possible that he separate his Forum from his website? If he creates a different address for it that is not linked to this site, would that work? Could he then just put his forum address on his own site separately?

Sorry, but I don't intend to do anything of the sort. My forum is an extension of my site (and it existed when I won the contest). If the administrator has a problem with me having a forum, then we have a problem to deal with.

Thanks for all of the support guys. :)

OK, to make all rules simple here. You can have a link to your website but not to your forum. How about that ?

And believe me, again there is nothing about the competition ( as somebody mentioned before ) there are many other things involved, but to understand the rule I make it to sound easier.

Oh no dear avonlea22 it will be rude from me to have any problem with any of our great users here. It is nothing personal or anything with nobody. We all want to have fun and feel like to be in a family, that's why I want to make everybody to enjoy this place.

But I'm sorry I will never give any kind satisfaction to our spammers or bad people and I hope you are all agree with me and give me your support.

So let's have fun ! :) a great house will only survived if there are GREAT families ! ... and this is what we have ! Personal I would like to thank you all for this !

I have an Anne journal at LiveJournal, and I know at least some people here have LiveJournals, so I was wondering if promoting that to try and get her new friends would be considered advertisement, or if there was a way to do it.
