A young virtuoso singer, Tom Henderson (Warren Christie), is cast in the lead role of Tamino in a new Salzburg staging of The Magic Flute during Mozart’s 250^th birthday celebrations in Austria. Tom quickly falls in love with the mysterious Russian diva playing the role opposite him, who is being held against her will by a famous musicologist (Rutger Hauer). As the contemporary romance unfolds, it begins to mirror the fictional world of the opera. Tom slips back and forth between reality and fantasy as he struggles to unravel the identity of his co-star and his feelings about her.
