Wind at my Back
Blamed by her in-laws for the tragic death of her husband, Honey Bailey finds herself penniless and homeless. She is forced to leave her two boys and infant daughter with their wealthy and controlling grandmother, May Bailey, who operates a prosperous local mining operation. This 65-episode series chronicles Honey’s struggle to get her children back from her in-laws, during the economic hard times of the Great Depression.
Honey remarries local school teacher, Max Sutton and opens a hairdressing business in order to support herself. Sister-in-law, Grace Bailey, comes to Honey’s aid in getting the children away from their grandmother; all the while yearning for love and adventure herself, through a series of whirlwind romances, much to the detriment of her mother’s health and control. As Honey’s children move back and grow up, they also become strong individuals within the local community and the two families slowly begin to reconcile. Exploring multi-generational family bonds and the poignancy of love, this is an uplifting chronicle about growing up in a small mining town; filled with adventure, humor, and emotion.
